President-elect Donald Trump said Tuesday he's not going to stick to his campaign promise of opening up a new investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of her private email server.
Trump told The New York Times, "It's not something that I feel strongly about...This had been a very painful period of time."
Trump also said he wouldn't launch an investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
He said he didn't want to hurt the Clintons.
Trump told The New York Times Hillary Clinton went through a lot -- calling the campaign "vicious."
The email investigation is closed, but the F.B.I. is still looking into whether the Clinton Foundation accepted money in exchange for favors from the State Department when she was in office.
