Its outer housing is protected against water, fire, oil, corrosion, and salt spray, and finished with a baking process that reinforces surface durability over years of use in demanding settings such as marine vessels, offshore rigs, and remote generator installations. Functionally, the starter works by allowing the operator to compress an internal spring by hand, storing mechanical energy that is then released quickly to spin the diesel engine into operation. This hand-cranked, electricity-free approach means it remains operational even when battery systems or fuel-based power sources are unavailable or unreliable. The starter uses standard SAE mounting flanges 1 through 4 for compatibility with a range of engines, including the Cummins 4B and Deutz BF3L913. With a maximum pinion torque of 126 Nm and a full winding cycle of roughly 30 seconds, it delivers dependable performance whenever a fast, self-contained start is required.
