Tawang Bike Trip 2026: 8N/9D Guwahati to Tawang & Kaziranga with Deyor
Some roads stay with you long after the trip ends, and the Tawang bike trip in Arunachal Pradesh is one of them. If you have already ridden Ladakh and Spiti, the Northeast is your next big adventure. It is greener, quieter and far less crowded. Deyor's 8-night, 9-day ride starts and ends in Guwahati and packs mountain passes, ancient monasteries and a wildlife safari into one trip.
Why Ride to Tawang?
Tawang sits high in the Himalayas of western Arunachal Pradesh. The road there winds through misty valleys, past fast streams and small villages, and over some of the most scenic passes in the country. Unlike many popular bike routes, it still feels unspoiled. Long empty stretches, cold mountain air and a view around every bend make the journey as memorable as the destination. If you want to explore further, check Deyor's Tawang tour package collection and the list of best places to visit in Tawang.
The Route, Day by Day
The trip begins in Guwahati with an easy evening: you meet your group, settle in and head out on a river cruise with dinner on the Brahmaputra. Then the real riding starts. You leave the city, cross the Assam plains and reach Jamiri, where the roads turn greener and the traffic thins out.
The highlight comes next, the climb to Tawang over the breathtaking Sela Pass. Expect thin air, cold wind and views that make you stop every few minutes for photos. You will also ride through the Sela Tunnel on the way. In Tawang, you visit the iconic Tawang Monastery and then ride up to Bumla Pass near the India-China border. The Bumla Pass permit and union vehicle are arranged for you.
On the way back, you stop at Dirang and Jung Waterfall, a gentle break after the high altitude. The final adventure is a jeep safari in the Western Range of Kaziranga National Park, famous for its one-horned rhinos. After that, you head back to Guwahati. Who Is This Trip For?
It suits riders who are comfortable on mountain roads and want a first Northeast adventure. You do not need to be a pro, but you should be confident on a 411cc bike. With a road captain, a mechanic and a back-up vehicle always nearby, you are well looked after.
Quick Riding Tips
Pack in layers, because Guwahati is warm but the passes get very cold. Drink plenty of water and tell your captain if you feel unwell at altitude. Carry some cash, since ATMs and network can be patchy in the hills. Keep your ID and driving licence ready for permits, and travel light with soft bags.
About Deyor
Deyor is a Gurugram-based travel company that began in 2016. It was started by Chirag Gupta, Dheeraj Jain and others in the travel tech space. Over the years it has grown from camping experiences into bike expeditions, group trips and international holidays, including Leh Ladakh bike trips, the Spiti Valley bike adventure and the Meghalaya with Kaziranga road trip. You can read traveller feedback on the Deyor reviews page.
Featured on Shark Tank India
Deyor also took its idea to national television. Co-founders Chirag Gupta and Himanshu Agarwal pitched the business to the judges on Sony TV's Shark Tank. The pitch aired in Shark Tank India Season 2, episode 32. Not every pitch makes it to air, so it is a proud moment for the brand and one more reason for first-time travellers to feel confident booking with them.
