Lightweight ≠ Floating: How the KOVE 800X Touring Stays Stable
Weight management is one of the 800X Touring's defining traits. Its integrated diamond twin-spar chassis weighs just 16.8kg, and extensive use of aluminum — in the handlebar, swingarm, and spoked wheels — keeps curb weight down to 195kg (215kg with the three-case luggage setup fitted), a notable figure in the 800cc ADV class.
The fuel tank tells a similar story: a 22L plastic tank weighs only 4.4kg, about 67% lighter than an equivalent metal tank, and its central, mid-mounted position helps lower the bike's center of gravity. The plastic construction also improves impact resistance against cracking or leakage on rough roads, and a fluorinated inner surface helps reduce fuel evaporation over long trips.
But shedding weight doesn't come at the cost of stability. KOVE tuned the 1520mm wheelbase, classic 19-inch front / 17-inch rear wheel combination, and 826mm seat height specifically to avoid the "floaty" feeling that lightweight bikes sometimes suffer from at speed. Even fully loaded at 215kg with luggage, the 800X Touring reportedly stays planted through highway cruising, cornering, and lane changes — striking a balance between low-speed agility for maneuvering or picking the bike up on rough terrain, and confidence-inspiring stability once the throttle opens up.
