Inside the KOVE 525X Engine: What Powers This Mid-Size Adventure Machine
Performance sits at the center of the KOVE 525X's identity. The bike is built around a 494cc twin-cylinder, water-cooled DOHC powerplant with a square 68×68mm bore and stroke configuration and an 11.5:1 compression ratio — a setup tuned for a broad, usable powerband rather than a narrow peak. Fed by Bosch electronic fuel injection, the engine generates 39.6kW of max power at 8,500rpm alongside 50.5N·m of peak torque at 7,000rpm, translating into a top speed of 170km/h under CHINA IV emission compliance.
This combination gives the 525X enough low-to-mid range torque for loaded touring and technical off-road sections, while still delivering the higher-rev responsiveness riders expect from a twin-cylinder adventure platform. The engine is housed within a chassis measuring 2260mm in length with a 1470mm wheelbase, striking a balance between stability at speed and maneuverability at lower speeds on tighter trails.
Complementing the engine's output, the 525X rides on KYB suspension — adjustable preload and damping up front, with a fully adjustable central rear shock offering 195mm and 200mm of travel respectively — allowing the chassis to absorb terrain changes without upsetting the engine's power delivery. Braking is handled by dual floating front discs with Brembo 2-piston calipers and a single rear disc, giving riders control that matches the engine's real-world performance.
