OSRS is nostalgic and has its peculiarities

MTX - It's what you make it. If you just do your everyday keys and use it as something of a "snack" to indulge in (but not over the top) it's really not bad whatsoever. You don't have to take part in it when you're opposed to that idea.

PvP - This is a difficult subject to discuss since this is where it is where the EOC combat system comes down. In a predator vs . prey scenario, the player who is the predator in EOC is able to achieve over 90 percent success, even when using subpar gear. Even though there's a lot to break down to answer this, the simple answer is that DPS is just too high and one player can kill another before the other can typically even react, especially one skilled with stuns/prayer dropping/teleblocking. TLDR: PvP is absolutely not a viable option on EOC. The only reason people go out into the wilds now is to create profitable PvM content with the rag gear, so as not to even be worth killing.

Questing - though I've not particularly enjoyed quests, however I'm going to hand it to Jagex. They've really upped their lore as well as the quality of their content when it comes to developing new quests.

QOL QOL Jagex has taken a leap to the extremes in RS3 to give preference to "afkability". This provides the player with an unpretentious and less grindy mentality, which allows them to achieve their goals without having to constantly click. This is true for combat, such as slayer, low-level PvM, as well as some skills. In addition, Jagex has made a lot of higher rate alternatives that are more intensive that ultimately result in an opportunity cost. It's Quality vs Quantity, allowing you to pick for yourself what you'd like to learn.

Applications: Much like OSB and Runelite, Alt1 is the most well-known (and safe) program that's an extremely useful add-on for your standard RS3 client.

As a final note, I've also played both games a lot and am still gravitating back to RS3 each time. While is nostalgic and has its peculiarities, these fade away very quickly to me. RS3 has not only the flexibility to allow me to play however I'd like and how I want, but also a much better and more than a welcoming community. The culture isn't perfect everywhere, but in the places it's great, you can be certain to be a happy player and simply play and enjoy the game.
