Horde players must  take the Primed Key Mold to Nazgrel at Thrallmar in the Hellfire Peninsula. Nazgrel sends players to speak with the Master Blacksmithing instructor, Rohok. Rohok will ask players to gather items to enable him to forge The Shattered Halls key: four Fel Iron bars, 2 Arcane Dust, and four Motes of Fire. Once the players have collected these items, they must then return back to Rohok. He attempts to create The Shattered Halls key but it fails. Rohok will then hand players an unfired Key Mold to drop into the corpse of the Fel Reaver. The players need to go to their Fel Reaver in Hellfire Peninsula and apply an Unfired Key Mold on its remains, creating a brand new item known as the Charred Key Mold. You can bring the Charred Key Mold back to Rohok to be given The Shattered Halls Key.

If the player has chosen an Alliance character, they will require a different procedure to get the key to the Burning Crusade dungeon. In the first place, players need to take the Primed Key Mold to Force Commander Danath trollbane at Honor Hold. He will then direct them on to the Master Blacksmith Trainer named Dumphrey. Dumphrey will issue the same request like Rohok: four Fel Iron Bars as well as two Arcane Dust, and four Motes of Fire. The return of the resources to Dumphrey will result in players receiving the unfired Key Mold, which players need to dip into the corpse of a Reaver Fel in order to make a Charred Key Mold.
