Best Places to Use Cannons in OSRS

.

The Dwarven Multi-Barreled Cannon in Old School RuneScape is a must-have tool for significantly boosting ranged experience. It's easy to obtain and well worth the investment in both the cost to purchase and use. If you're looking to accelerate your progress, you might want to get to afford the cannon and cannonballs easily.

Once deployed, the cannon holds 30 cannonballs and automatically fires at nearby NPCs, dealing up to 30 damage per hit. This automation, combined with traditional combat training, greatly increases kills per hour, and thus experience gained per hour.

Be sure to learn how to craft cannonballs!

While cannons can be used in many places in Old School RuneScape, some places are more advantageous due to being single or multi-combat zones and the types of NPCs present. This guide covers the best places to use cannons in OSRS.

Lighthouse

One prime location to use cannons is the Lighthouse, located in Fremennik's land near Rellekka. In the basement, you'll find Daganos, which are aggressive but relatively weak monsters for their combat level.

The basement is a multi-combat zone, allowing your cannon to target multiple Daganos at once. The basement spawns 22 Daganos, and you're unlikely to exceed their respawn rate.

Two types of Daganos live here: one at level 74, and one at level 92. Despite their high levels, both are weaker than expected, so bring your best melee gear and some food. Wearing Barrow's Gussen armor can help you keep healing from the damage they inflict.

To access the lighthouse and its basement, you'll need to have completed the quest "Terrors from the Deep". Start this quest by talking to Larissa outside the lighthouse. You'll need 35 Agility, and must have completed the mini-quest "Alfred Grimhand's Barcrawl".

Green Dragon (Wild Butcher Cave)

Another excellent place to use your cannon is the Green Dragon area in the low-level Wilds. Be prepared for possible encounters with player killers, and avoid carrying items you'd rather not lose.

To fight a dragon, you will need protection, such as an Anti-Dragon Shield, Dragonfire Shield, Dragonfire Ward, or a Fire Resistance Potion. You can obtain an Anti-Dragon Shield from Duke Horatio in Lumbridge Castle if needed.

The best place to blast a green dragon with a cannon is the Wild Butcher Cave, which contains six level 88 green dragons. This multi-combat area also features safe spots around the room where the dragons spawn.

Green dragons are popular targets because they drop valuable Green Dragon Hides and Dragon Bones, which are lucrative even when accounting for cannonball costs. However, this popularity also makes the area a hotspot for PvP encounters.

Northern Jatizso

The third recommended location is northern Jatizso, where Fremennik warriors fight ice trolls. This area is suitable for multiplayer battles and is ideal for using cannons against the constant stream of ice trolls, men, women, and runts.

The Fremennik warriors present will help absorb some of the trolls' attacks, but you should still equip combat gear and use melee defense to maximize your effectiveness. Bring the High Alchemy Rune to profit from the trolls' valuable drops.

To access this area, speak to Mord Gunnars in Rellekka to complete the quest "Fremennik Islands". Requirements include 20 builds and completing "Fremennik Trials".

While in "Fremennik Islands", you will receive a Neitiznot Shield, which helps reduce the maximum hits of the female trolls' ranged attacks from 6 to 2, thus extending your travel time.

Varok Sewers

Another effective location is the Moss Giant area in the Varok Sewers. This multi-combat area is suitable for using cannons, while the Moss Giants have low defensive attributes, making them vulnerable to all types of attacks.

Moss Giants have enough health to make using cannons worthwhile, and they will continuously drop herbs and seeds, which can bring small benefits at lower levels. They can also drop Moss Keys, which allow you to enter the Moss Plant.

Reaching the Moss Giant area in the Varok Sewers does not require any quests or skills, but you will need a slashing weapon or knife to cut the webs that block your path. Alternatively, use the Edgeville Dungeon shortcut with 51 Agility. If you are running low on supply funds, you can always from RPGStash.com.

These locations offer a range of benefits for cannon use in OSRS. Whether you are seeking large numbers of Daganos in the Lighthouse, profitable Green Dragons in the Wild Killing Caves, sustained combat experience with Ice Trolls in Netiznot, or a combination of experience and profitability with Moss Giants in the Varok Sewers, these locations offer the best opportunities for cannon training.
