Arc Raiders U4GM Strategy for Why You Must Extract

.

Phantom Targets is the kind of Arc Raiders event that punishes a narrow farming mindset. You may enter a Wasp location expecting a quick PvE cleanup, only to discover that the noise, loot, and event traffic have created a dangerous meeting point for other Raiders. Part 2 adds another layer through erratic Wasps carrying unidentified technology, so preparation matters before the first shot. If your storage is missing a dependable option for this run, browsing can help you plan around the weapons you actually have rather than chasing a fashionable loadout. The event runs until September 6, but the useful lesson is broader: surviving the fight after the target falls is often more important than shaving a few seconds off the kill.

Build Around the Raider You Have Not Seen Yet

A reliable Phantom Targets setup needs to answer two different questions. First, how do you damage the Wasp without standing in its preferred attack space? Second, what happens when another player hears the encounter and arrives while your magazine is nearly empty? For solo runs, I prefer a medium-range primary paired with a close-range secondary. The primary handles the opening damage from cover, while the secondary gives you a realistic answer when an opponent pushes through a doorway, stairwell, or narrow street. Carrying two weapons designed only for ARC targets may improve theoretical DPS, but it leaves a serious gap during the second fight.

The Best Firing Position Is a Retreat Position

Do not choose a firing spot simply because it offers a clear view of the Wasp. Before engaging, identify two exits, one route that breaks line of sight, and a nearby position where you can reload without exposing your silhouette. Medium range is valuable because the target has room to change direction, while you still have time to move when its attack pattern becomes uncomfortable. Avoid standing directly beneath it or beside a single doorway. A strong position lets you deal damage, step back, listen for footsteps, and re-enter the fight on your terms. If the location offers only one escape route, relocate before shooting.

Turn Equipment Into an Early Warning System

Defensive equipment should not be treated as something you deploy only after taking damage. Place it toward the angle you cannot watch, especially when foliage, debris, or building corners create blind spots. Then use the engagement in short cycles: damage the Wasp, pause, listen, reposition, and re-engage. Audio information becomes extremely valuable once the event draws attention. A device activating, distant movement, or a sudden change in ambient sound is enough reason to stop firing. The Wasp being one burst from defeat does not make the final burst free. Many failed extractions begin with a player refusing to disengage because the objective looks almost complete.

Test Ammunition, Not Just Damage

When comparing weapons, record how many rounds each one needs across five Wasps and how much ammunition remains afterward. A rifle that kills slightly faster can still be a poor solo farming choice if it consumes most of a magazine every time. Another weapon may require a few extra shots but preserve enough reserves for a player encounter and the trip to extraction. Track reload timing as well. A slower reload can matter more than a small damage difference when the Wasp is circling or a rival Raider is closing the distance. This simple test gives your loadout a practical value that a menu stat rarely shows.

Once the Phantom Targets objective is complete, reassess the raid instead of treating another Wasp as automatic profit. The event rewards include the Anomalia Outfit, Finger Guns Wave, Trashpile Bag, and Raider Tokens, but progress is only useful if you can leave with it. If your backpack already contains valuable loot and your ammunition is low, extraction is the smart play. Players still building their stash can use to fill a specific equipment gap, then return with a loadout designed for both the target and the Raider waiting nearby.
