Following the release of Madden 23 EA has released the  gameplay trailer that was revealed. The trailer concentrates on FieldSENSE, the new gameplay system that's said to serve as "the basis for a consistent, ultra-realistic gaming experience."

EA earlier went on a deep dive of FieldSENSE, but today's trailer makes it easier to understand all the changes. As always, there are four key components in FieldSENSE -- Hit Everything, Skill-Based Passing, 360deg Cuts and WR vs DB Battles. -- and the video below showcases them in motion.

In a nutshell, Hit Everything is a new technology for animation that uses physics-driven games to produce real-life results as opposed to the previous game that was based on animation that was too repetitive. Players can choose to play ball, or get physical with the receiver to play mid-air knockouts. There's a new standup tackle mechanic that could help to force turnovers.

For the side that is offensive, there's the new Skill-Based Passing mechanic which gives you ultimate control over where you place the ball. Utilizing the left handstick, you can guide receivers in open areas in dropping the ball into narrow windows. The aim is to lessen the randomness of the passing game , and to give you more control over the outcome.

The 360deg Cuts mechanic greatly improves the previous year's game, which severely lacked running control. Now you have mobility and fluidity as a ball-carrier. Use L2 and the left stick to perform cuts and hit the gaps as they become larger.

The fourth and final element of FieldSENSE is WR vs DB Battles. While this mode is available in all modes, it is most effective with Face of the Franchise where you can play as wide the receiver as well as defensive back. The aim is to give the player complete control of wide receiver release maneuvers or defensive back counter presses.

After playing a little of the Madden 23  Closed Beta, I can confirm it's a significant leap ahead for the franchise. However, for those still playing on last-gen, FieldSENSE is only available in Madden 23 on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
